Hasmik Harutyunyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, in a family of survivors of the Armenian Genocide. Hasmik graduated from a music institute and pedagogical university, in vocal and physics/mathematics departments. She was a long-time soloist in the Armenian National Radio's Akunq Folk Ensemble and is now soloist for Yerevan's Shoghaken Folk Ensemble. Read more...


Cornelius Boots plays renegade nature music on giant Zen bamboo flutes.  These raw bamboo flutes evoke the breathy sound of sacred mysteries and have been used as meditation tools by esoteric Zen monks and mountain hermits for over 1000 years. Exploring these earthy sounds creates a connection to Nature and primordial dream states of consciousness: the trees singing, the mud chanting, the cave yawning, the sage wandering, the invisible glowing. Laura Inserra is a vibrant and talented composer, multi-instrumentalist, teacher and artistic director. She is a classically trained musician with a strong improvisational background who utilizes multiple musical and performance skills. A native of Sicily, her work in Italy is well- known, including integral participation in the composition of numerous movie scores and the artistic direction of innovative live productions. In 2007, Inserra founded SAMAVESHA, an international non-profit multidisciplinary performing art organization.  Audiences worldwide are mesmerized by her musical virtuosity and captivated by the passion she brings to the stage. Elizabeth Setzer is a talented emerging composer whose diverse influences range from Eastern European vocal music to Radiohead. A graduate of Mills College and a Fulbright Scholar, she is the current Music Director of Kitka and has composed numerous arrangements for the ensemble, one of which was recorded on the group’s latest album, Cradlesongs. A gifted songwriter, Setzer combines her background in classical piano, jazz improvisation, and Bulgarian folk singing to create soulful compositions with a unique sonority and depth of feeling. Evan Fraser is a multi-instrumentalist, performer and recording artist currently based in the Bay Area. Evan graduated from CalArts in LA with a BFA degree in World Music. His teachers include: John Bergamo, Randy Gloss, Alfred & Kobla Ladzekpo, Sulley Imoro, Nyomen Wenton, Jim Santi Owen, Mark Growden, Hamsa Lila, Mamadou Sidibe & Yakouba Diarra. More info...






Aharon Wheels Bolsta is a drummer and percussionist working with an array of music-makers in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. He began classical drum study at the age of eleven and continued with teachers of various styles through high school, most notably Jim Dalrymple of Cal Tjader’s ensembles.  More info...
