Acclaimed by The New York Times as "an artist of keen intelligence and taste, well worth watching out for" violinist Jennifer Curtis navigates with personality and truth into the essence of each piece of music she interprets and performs. Her recent recital in Carnegie's Weil Recital Hall was hailed as "one of the gutsiest, most individual recital programs..." by the New York Times. Winner of the Milka/Astral Grand Prize for violin, Jennifer is an Astral Artist, and has been presented by Astral as a soloist in Philadelphia at the Academy of Music and at The Kimmel Center. She is a member of the Ikarus chamber players, a Far Cry chamber orchestra, the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) and the founder and artistic director of Tres Americas Ensemble, a group dedicatd to the Celebration ane preservation of musical traditions of north, central and south america. Jennifer was recently presented with ICE and John Adams at the Mostly Mozart Festival. Her contributions to the presence of contemporary music have led to numerous premieres, most notably the music of George Enescu. Jennifer was the featured soloist for the celebration of Enescu's birth last year at the international festival in Romana and will give the American Premiere of Enescu's Fantasie Concertante for solo violin next season. Also a composer, her compositions have been performed in New York, Verbier's festival de Musique, Spoleto Festival in Italy and throughout Latin America.
